Cork Con FC 1st XV 17 - 24 Garryowen
Venue: Dooradoyle
Competition: All Ireland League Div.1
Match Report:

Cork Constitution had to be satisfied with a losing bonus point at Dooradoyle on Saturday after a typical local derby match. Neil Cronin for Garryowen and Tomas Quinlan for Constitution had penalties in the opening 10 minutes, before Garryowen took control with a try by scrum half Cronin from a 5 metre scrum in the 25th minute, to which he added the conversion also for 10-3.

A penalty by Tomas Quinlan closed the deficit to 10-6. But a Garryowen try from half way finished by full back David Johnson, and converted by Cronin, put the home side in control at 17-6 by the half hour mark.

Two penalties by Quinlan kept the visitors in the game at 17-12, but Garryowen scored again with a second try by Johnson, converted by Cronin for 24-12. However, in the final minute Constitution claimed a losing bonus point with an unconverted try by wing JJ.O’Neill.

The sides meet again in the return AIL match at Templehill next week, and yet again a week later at Dooradoyle in the Munster Senior Cup semi-final.
