Venue: Dubarry Park, Athlone
Competition: All Ireland League Div.1
Match Report:

Cork Constitution maintained their Top Four challenge with a narrow victory over Buccaneers at Dubarry Park on Saturday. They led 17-12 at the half-time break, and the sides shared the second half spoils.

A try by J.J.O’Neill opened Constitution’s account, converted by Aidan Moynihan, who filled in for the unavailable regular out-half, Tomas Quinlan. They doubled their tally to 0-14 with a try by Graeme Lawler, again converted by Moynihan. But the home side fought back with two tries before the break; wing Rory O’Connor scored the first, and a penalty try, converted by Carty. However, a penalty by Moynihan left Constitution 12-17 ahead at half-time.

Ned Hodson extended Constitution’s lead with a try, converted by Moynihan, before Buccs scored a late try by Rory O’Connor, converted by Carty, to claim a losing bonus point.

Constitution are third on 21 points, one point ahead of Garryowen. Next week, Constitution are at home to St Mary’s College, who lost to Dublin University, and are second from bottom on nine points.
