Cork Con FC U20 8 - 12 University College Cork
Venue: CurraheenCompetition: South Munster U20 League
Match Report:
Constitution Under 20 XV lost their Donal Walsh League tie to UCC at The Farm on Saturday afternoon. Trailing 12-3 to College at half time, they left it late to get to get in a serious challenge. However, they fought to the end and a last minute try was no more than they deserved for an honest effort.
College took an early lead from a penalty try in the 10th minute, to which French added the conversion. And they added a second unconverted try in the 18th minute, when the pack mauled to the line with Declan Barry touching down. Niall Finn kicked a penalty for Constitution in the 38th minute to leave his side trailing 3-12 at the break.
The second half was well contested but scoring was at a premium, and it was Constitution centre Joe Harrington who finally crossed for a try in the 78th minute; however the conversion attempt went wide, to leave College as narrow winners.
