Cork Con FC 1st XV 13 - 26 Clontarf
Venue: Templehill
Competition: All Ireland League
Match Report:

Clontarf defeated Cork Constitution at Temple Hill on Saturday to go top of the Ulster Bank League table. They led 14-6 at the interval, and had no difficulty holding out, to win comfortably. The Clontarf pack was stronger on the day, and allied to a solid back division, they deprived the home side of possession for long periods.

David Joyce was scorer in chief for Clontarf, kicking seven from eight penalty kicks, the first after 6 minutes.  Following the score, there was an eight minute hold-up due to a serious injury to Constitution front row Bryan Cagney.

When play resumed, Constitution replied with a penalty by Darragh Lyons in the 15th minute. Clontarf scored a try from wing Max McFarland in the 19th minute, and Joyce added three penalties before the break, to leave Clontarf well in control.

In the second half, Joyce was successful with a further four penalties, before Constitution, at last, found some attacking momentum for Conor Desmond to score at the posts in the final minutes. Lyons kicked the conversion to end a poor day for the home side.
