Cork Con FC 1st XV 23 - 3 Dublin University
Venue: Templehill
Competition: All Ireland League Division 1 Semi-final
Match Report:

Cork Constitution won their semi-final encounter with Dublin University at Templehill on Saturday to qualify for the AIL Final against Clontarf at Lansdowne Road next Saturday.

Constitution finished first, a whopping seventeen points ahead of Dublin University in fourth place, in the regular League campaign. But, they had lost the return fixture to the students in Dublin in March. On this occasion, they made no mistake with a solid first half to lead 13-3 at the interval, and went on to add to that advantage in the second period.

The visitors scored first with a penalty on 18 minutes by out half Ml Kennedy. Constitution were level on 27n minutes with a penalty by Aidan Moynihan, and a 33rd minute penalty made it 6-3.

Despite enduring some pressure, the home side went further ahead with a try in the 40th minute by Sean French, and Moynihan’s excellent conversion made it 13-3 at the interval.

Aidan Moynihan kicked a penalty on the resumption for 16-6, and he scored the clinching score in the 60th minute, when he picked a loose ball to score, via a neat kick and chase. He converted for 23-3, and the home side saw out the final quarter comfortably.

In the other semi-final, Clontarf saw off Lansdowne 23-15 at Castle Avenue to set up the final pairings, set for Lansdowne Road next Saturday
