Match Report:
Cork Constitution suffered a heavy defeat to Dublin University at College Park on Saturday afternoon.
On the historic College Park ground, the home side took a 13th minute lead with a try by right wing Quinn. D.A Moynihan kicked a penalty for the visitors on 20 minutes for 5-3 at half time.
Alec McHenry scored Constitution’s first try after 53 minutes at the end of a 60 metre move, and Moynihan added the extras for 5-10. But Trinity scored a fine try in the right corner on 58 minutes, and Russell kicked a touchline conversion for 12-10. And Russell added a third try four minutes later for 19-10.
Moynihan kicked a penalty for Constitution on 71 minutes, but a try by front rower Doyle, and Kennedy’s conversion pushed Trinity to 26-13 on 73 minutes. A yellow card for Ross O’Neill gave Kennedy a penalty for 29-13. And in the final play Russell scored his third, and Trinity’s fifth try for a comprehensive bonus point victory
After 16 series of games, Constitution continue to lead the table on 63 points; but Clontarf and Lansdowne have closed to 56 and 55 points respectively.
Next weekend is free, with the local derby with UCC scheduled for Friday 5th April at Templehill.
