Cork Con FC 1st XV 16 - 13 Clontarf
Venue: Castle Avenue
Competition: All Ireland League Div.1
Match Report:

Cork Constitution won a dramatic victory over Clontarf on the all-weather surface at Castle Avenue in the All Ireland League on Saturday, and thereby leap-frogged their opponents, to claim top spot in the table for the first time this season.

Constitution now lead Clontarf, 28 points to 26, after seven rounds of matches, with Lansdowne moving into third place on 24 points, after victory over Shannon.

At Castle Avenue, Constitution took an early lead with a penalty by DA Moynihan, but Clontarf scored the first try by Cian O’Donoghue, unconverted for 5-3. A second try by wing Matt Darcy made it 10-3 on 31 minutes.

A penalty by Joyce made it 13-3, before Moynihan kicked a second penalty for 13-6. Constitution drew level with a try by Joe McSwiney, converted by Moynihan, and he later kicked the decisive penalty in the second minute of injury time.

So Constitution are well placed after six games; they play Young Munster at home next week, and Terenure College the following week, before the Christmas break.
