Cork Con FC U20 45 - 0 Dolphin RFC
Venue: Irish Independent ParkCompetition: Under 20 League South
Cork Constitution began their U20 League season with an emphatic victory over Dolphin at Musgrave Park’s back pitch on Saturday afternoon. They led 28-0 at half time, having scored four tries to secure the bonus point on offer, and added three further tries in a one-sided second half.
David Good opened the scoring when he got the touchdown after 5 minutes; Niall Finn converted, and also added the points when Ashley Dean scored in the 15th minute. David Good scored his second three minutes later, as Constitution’s pack were threatening to overwhelm the home side. Finn again added the extra points, and completed a perfect four from four, when he converted Paddy Casey’s touchdown in the 20th minute. However, a yellow-card before the break slowed Constitution’s scoring rate.
Peter Humphreys got them back on track with a 50th minute try, converted by Finn. Constitution then unloaded their reserve bench in the second period, but still maintained their intensity, and added two further tries by Peter Humphries and Luke O’Connell, with the first converted by Finn for 40-0 before the hour mark.
A second yellow slowed the scoring, but second row Tom O’Halloran got in for the final unconverted try just before the finish.
Next Saturday will likely be a tougher proposition, as they are scheduled to meet UCC at Templehill.Referee:
