Cork Constitution Under 20 XV defeated Sunday’s Well at Templehill on Saturday afternoon to keep up their challenge for the Donal Walsh Trophy with their sixth win from eight games played.

Constitution led 10-5 at half time after a competitive first period. A try by Barry Gavin after 20 minutes, converted by Eoin Lacey, who also added a penalty before the break, gave the home side a narrow advantage. Luke Brosnan scored the Well’s try.

Shane Murphy got in for Constitution’s second  try in the corner early in the second period, before Rob Hyde added the third try in the 50th minute. Eoin Lacey added a conversion, and kicked a second penalty for 25-5, before Julian Power notched a second try and conversion for the visitors.

An Eoin Lacey penalty on 60 minutes stretched the lead to 28-12. A penalty try, converted by Power, narrowed the gap to 28-19, before Lacey closed out the victory with a penalty for 31-19.

Constitution are have three games remaining: Jan.21 UL-Bohs (A); Jan.28 UCC Beagles (H); Feb.18 UCC Bloodhounds (A).
