Cork Con FC 1st XV 33 - 11 Old Crescent
Venue: Templehill
Competition: Munster Seconds League Play-off
Match Report:

Cork Constitution J1 XV got their New Year programme underway with a comfortable win over Old Crescent in the Seconds League quarter-final at Templehill on Sunday afternoon, in fairly wintry conditions, but on the excellent home first pitch.

Constitution did most of the damage in the first half as they led 25-6 at the break. Eoin Lacey had an early penalty, before adding a try and conversion for 10-0 after 15 minutes. Liam O’Connell was next to do similarly, with a try that he converted himself. And before half time Sean O’Leary scored, for Lacey to add the extras. In the meanwhile, Old Crescent kicked two penalties to bring up the half time situation.

Crescent opened the second period brightly with an unconverted try, but Michael Clune maintained the home side’s supremacy with their fourth try, and Lacey added a penalty before the finish for a comprehensive win.

Next week it will be on to Munster Junior Cup rugby as Constitution travel to Mallow for their first round encounter with the home side.
