Venue: Templehill
Competition: Munster Seconds League
Match Report:

Cork Constitution J1 XV had a comfortable Munster Seconds League win under the

Temple Hill lights on a pleasantly temperate Monday night.

Constitution did most of the damage in the first period, scoring six tries without reply.

Ger Slattery had the first of two tries almost from the kick off. Right wing Sean Gray

finished a break by No.8 Michael Murphy for the second try in the 8th minute. Full back

Michael Clune ran in the third try after 21 minutes, and hooker Ger Slattery had his

second try two minutes later. John Poland kicked all four conversions for 28-0.

Centre Kerry Desmond ran in two tries before the break; the first from 30 metres to the

right corner, and the other following a 5 metre scrum. Poland kicked the second

conversion for 40-0 at half time.

Midleton rallied at the start of the second half, and second row Sean McCarthy scored a

consolation try for the visitors in the 55th minute. Cathal O’Flaherty scored his second try

in the 69th minute; scrum half Andrew Dorgan finished a break out from his own half in

the 75th minute, and Cathal O’Flaherty did likewise from a Michael Murphy break in the

77th minute, as Constitution maintained their form to the end. Poland completed the

scoring with two further conversions.

Thus far, Constitution have had three comfortable wins, but can expect stronger

competition in the coming weeks from Highfield (Nov.15 H), Cashel (Nov.29 A) and

Dolphin (Dec.13 H).
