Cork Constitution defeated Midleton on Monday evening at the Towns Park in a game held over from the weekend. In good conditions under lights, Constitution led 19-8 at the break having scored three tries. In the second period, they scored regularly, ensuring the bonus point as early as the 55th minute.
Midleton started strongly and scored the first try after 5 minutes, and also kicked the conversion and a penalty, to lead 8-0. Alan Ross got Constitution back on track with a try after 10 minutes, and Jason Power added the conversion. On 25 minutes Sonny Dwyer finished off a fine move with the second try, again converted by Power. And just on the half time break, Sean Keohane scored an unconverted try to leave the half time score at 19-8 to Constitution.
Ed Beechinor was at the end of a line out maul for the fourth try in the 55th minute, and Power added the conversion. On the hour mark, Midleton scored a try and converted, to bring the score to 26-15 to Constitution. In a hectic last 5 minutes, Keohane scored his second try for Constitution, but Midleton struck back immediately with a try for 31-20.
And in final minute, ‘will o’the wisp’ scrum half, Andrew Dorgan, stole away from half way and beat the home defence to score a solo try. Power converted to end the scoring.Referee:
