Cork Con FC U20 22 - 3 UCC
Venue: Templehill
Competition: U20 South Munster League
Match Report:

Cork Constitution opened their defence of the U21 South Western Conference title with a solid win over University College Cork at Templehill on Saturday. Only scrum half Andrew Dorgan of last season’s all-conquering side is available this season, but the new squad showed plenty of promise. Both sides were tentative in the opening half with scoring chances at a premium, but Constitution were in command in the second period.

Constitution opened with a penalty by Joe White in the 12th minute, awarded after a good line-out drive inside the College 22 metre line. Kevin O’Keeffe equalised for College in injury time with a penalty.

The Constitution scrum was strong throughout, and they forced a penalty try in the 53rd minute, converted by White for 10-3. And flanker Morgan Carey got the touch down in the 57th minute, following another strong drive by the pack off a 5 metre line out.

Out half Jason Higgins ran in the third try in the final minutes, again converted by White, to give Constitution the spoils.

Next Saturday Constitution are away to Waterpark.
