Cork Con FC 1st XV 35 - 7 UL-Bohemian
Venue: Templehill
Competition: Ulster Bank League – Division 1A
Match Report:

UL-Bohemian scored a comprehensive four-try victory over Constitution at Temple Hill in the last Ulster Bank League game of the season. However, in the end it was to no avail, as Shannon scored a similar home victory over Lansdowne to maintain their advantage over their neighbours. As a consequence UL are in the automatic relegation position, while Shannon will have a play-off game against UCD or Dublin University to determine their status for next season.

Constitution failed to breach the visitors defence in the first half. On the other hand UL scored thirteen unanswered points. Two penalties by out-half Ben Martin, who also scored a try and conversion accounted for their total.

Martin added another penalty after just three minutes of the second half, and by the mid-point in the half, second row Conor Kindregan had scored two more tries. Martin converted one try for 28-0. Constitution No.8 Cathal O’Flaherty was sin-binned in the last 10 minutes and Mossy Lawler scooted over for the fourth try in his absence. Martin brought up the 35 points without reply with the conversion. Andrew O’Driscoll got in by the posts for a consolation try for Constitution in the final minute. Holland kicked the simple conversion, but UL will be disappointed that they did not find their real form earlier in the campaign.

For Constitution it was a disappointing outcome a week before the Bateman Cup final against St Mary’s College, but they will surely learn a few lessons from such an aggressive attack-minded UL-Bohs side.
