Cork Con FC J1 17 - 12 Cashel
Venue: CashelCompetition: Seconds League
Cashel won the return Seconds League game played at Cashel on Saturday afternoon, but only after a delayed start, a replacement referee and playing the second half on a different pitch.
The start was delayed due to the non-appearance of the appointed referee; it appears he was not informed that the game was brought forward a day. A local man was located and the game started 30 minutes late. The first half was played on the main pitch, but the second had to be switched to the second pitch to avail of the floodlighting, as daylight faded.
Constitution scored in the 7th minute when Ronan Barry finished a fine break by Cathal Quinn. Con had the better of the first quarter but failed to finish a number of opportunities. Cashel drew level in the 25th minute with a try by Paddy Maher, and forged ahead with two further tries before half time for 17-5.
The second half developed into a dog-fight on the smaller pitch with few clear cut chances. Seamus Glynn finished one Con attack with a try converted by Brian Derham, and they had to be satisfied with a losing bonus point for their efforts.Referee:
