Venue: Temple HillCompetition: Munster Seconds League
Constitution continued their winning sequence in the Munster Seconds League South with a solid win over Sunday’s Well at Temple Hill on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides were slow to settle, but once Constitution got on the score board in the 13th minute they kept the score board ticking over to the finish. Out half Sean Og Murphy scored the opening try in the right corner after good work by Peter O’Sullivan and Eoin O’Donnell. O’Sullivan added the conversion from the touchline.
Padraig McSweeny got the Well’s only score in the 15th minute from a penalty, and O’Sullivan also kicked a penalty for Con in the 20th minute. Full back Danny O’Shea was in position to score from Sean Murphy’s cross kick in the 28th minute, and O’Shea put Eoin O’Donnell in for a score with a precise chip to the corner in the 39th minute. Peter O’Sullivan kicked the second conversion for 22-3 lead at the break.
Peter O’Sullivan kicked a penalty in the 48th minute, and added a conversion to the second of two tries by Simon Hanbidge to stretch Con’s lead to 37-3. An injury to a Sunday’s well forward held up play for a few minutes, but in the final play of the game Conor Desmond finished off a fine Con move. O’Sullivan kicked the conversion to leave the final score at 44-3.
It was Constitution’s eighth straight win and leaves them well ahead in the table with four games remaining. Next Sunday they meet Dolphin at Musgrave Park.Referee:
